There's too much to choose from! What type of outfit is appropriate for each event?

Please see above for colors as well as outfit examples. In terms of what type of outfit is typically worn, see below:

Mehendi
• Men: A casual or semi-formal kurta in bright colors, often paired with pajama or churidar. Western attire can also be worn. Fabrics like cotton or linen work well as the event is often more relaxed.
• Women: Outfits are usually bright, such as sharara sets, anarkalis, and Indo-western sets, often featuring floral or mirror work. Western attire can also be worn. The focus is on comfort since this event can be lengthy, and women often have henna applied on their hands and feet.

Sagaan
• Men: Traditional wear like kurta-pajama or western outfit. Some might opt for a semi-formal western suit.
• Women: Traditional attire like a salwar kameez, an elegant saree, a lighter lehenga choli, or western outfit. Outfits tend to be moderately adorned—stylish but not as heavy as what’s typically worn for the main wedding events.

Haldi
• Men: Simple kurta-pajama or western outfit, often in white or yellow to match the turmeric theme.
• Women: Can wear simple yellow sarees, salwar kameez, or western outfits. Lightweight and casual attire is preferred, as the ceremony involves applying turmeric paste, which can stain clothing.

Garba & Sangeet
• Men: Formal kurta with dhoti pants, bandhgala suit, or Indo-Western suits, sometimes featuring light embroidery.
• Women: Heavily embellished lehenga cholis, anarkalis, or something flowy as this is a night full of dancing. Outfits for sangeet are often glamorous with lots of sequins, beadwork, and bold colors. Traditional Indian attire is preferred.

Wedding
• Men: A formal sherwani, kurta with a jacket, or even a western suit with light colors like pastels and cream.
• Women: Heavily embellished sarees, lehenga cholis, anarkalis, or salwar kameez. Traditional Indian attire is preferred. Spring colors or light colors like pinks, blue, or peach, are preferred since it is a daytime wedding. Avoid wearing black or bridal reds. Jewelry is an essential part of the attire, so feel free to accessorize with bangles, earrings, and a necklace.

Reception
• Men: A formal suit, tuxedo, or a bandhgala suit.
• Women: Can wear sarees, lehenga cholis, or elegant gowns. Jewel tones or pastel colors are popular, and the level of embellishment can be high, though not as heavy as the wedding day attire. Many opt for a more contemporary look here, so you can experiment with styles and colors.
